Utkarsha Samman is an yearly award given to three distinct people for their work in the following categoies: 1. Good work in the area of art and culture 2. Good work in the area of sports 3. Good work in the area of science 4. Good work in the area of literature 5. Good work in the area of learning, comepetitive examination, education, etc. 6. Good work in the area of public service 7. Good work in the area of business and profession Utkarsha Samman was initially started in 2009 in memory of Pulin Chandra Mandal and Sunil Kumar Mandal in the year 2019 and is given to three people who are either residents of Old Malda Block of Malda District in WB, India, or who have predominatly worked in Old Malda. The award is given on Dashami evening at Nabagata Club. The awardees are chosen by a committee of members of Nabagata Club.
